Why businesses choose Chatbox AI for
WooCommerce Integration
Status transitions, not polling
Messages fire on real WooCommerce status transitions, wherever they come from: the admin screen, a gateway callback, the REST API or WP-CLI.
You can see what happened
Register the site for delivery status and each message's outcome is written onto the order. Without it, every message honestly stays on 'accepted'.
Quiet hours that wait
A window in your site's timezone during which nothing sends. A message caught by it waits and goes out when the window ends: it is never dropped. Verification codes are exempt by default.
Powerful capabilities
to scale on WhatsApp
Everything you need to automate conversations and drive conversions.
One approved template each
The events you can map
Order placed, paid, completed, cancelled, refunded and shipped (on a tracking number appearing, or a status you nominate) are utility messages. Abandoned cart is marketing. COD confirmation, address confirmation and an OTP you fire from your own code round it out.
- Order placed, paid, completed, cancelled, refunded, shipped
- COD confirmation, address confirmation and abandoned cart
- Verification codes from your own code via a WordPress action
Chasing, until it is pointless
Sequences that stop themselves
A sequence is several messages chasing one thing, each with its own delay, and the whole thing is cancelled the moment the thing it was chasing happens. Every step is its own event, so each picks its own template and variables.
- Per-step delays and templates
- Cancelled by the event it was chasing
- Payment reminders, cart recovery, address confirmation
Consent the plugin can prove
Opt-in at checkout
The plugin adds a WhatsApp opt-in checkbox to both the classic and the block checkout, stores the answer on the order, and enforces it on marketing templates. It cannot collect consent you never asked for, and WhatsApp holds your business responsible for having it.
- Checkbox on classic and block checkout
- Enforced on marketing-category templates
- STOP opts a customer out permanently, platform-wide
Set up WooCommerce Integration
in minutes
- 1
Get your templates approved first
Only a Meta-approved template can start a WhatsApp conversation, and approval is Meta's decision, including how long it takes. Do this before you launch, not during.
- 2
Create a scoped API key
In Chatbox AI, go to Settings then API keys and create a key with messages:send, templates:read and webhooks:manage.
- 3
Install and connect the plugin
Upload the plugin in WordPress, Plugins, Add New, paste the key, press Test connection and set your country code.
- 4
Map events to templates
Pick which approved template each store event sends, set your sequence delays and quiet hours, and turn it on.

Questions about
WooCommerce Integration
Got questions about WooCommerce Integration? We've got answers.
No. The plugin is a client for the Chatbox AI API: it does not talk to Meta, hold a WhatsApp number or submit templates. All three belong to the Chatbox AI workspace the API key came from.
Does the plugin need my WhatsApp number or Meta access? No. The plugin is a client for the Chatbox AI API: it does not talk to Meta, hold a WhatsApp number or submit templates. All three belong to the Chatbox AI workspace the API key came from.
Will my abandoned-cart messages all be delivered? No, and no platform can promise otherwise. Meta throttles marketing-category templates and drops roughly a quarter to a third of them, answered with error 131049. Abandoned cart recovery is a marketing template, so expect this. Order and shipping updates are utility messages and are not affected.
Why does a message stay on 'accepted'? Because the API accepting a message only means WhatsApp took it. Use the plugin's Register this site for delivery status button and the log will tell you what happened afterwards. Note that 'read' only arrives if the customer has read receipts on, which many do not, so a low read count is not evidence nobody read anything.
Can it recover any abandoned cart? Only a cart with a phone number: a logged-in customer who has one on their account, or a guest who typed one into the checkout. An anonymous cart cannot be recovered over WhatsApp, and collecting numbers to try would mean collecting data you have no consent for.
What do I need to run it? WooCommerce 7.0 or later, WordPress 6.0 or later and PHP 7.4 or later, plus a Chatbox AI workspace with a connected WhatsApp number and approved templates. The plugin declares compatibility with HPOS and the block checkout.
Does WooCommerce send its own tracking numbers? WooCommerce core has no tracking number, so if your store has one it came from a plugin. The Chatbox AI plugin reads the common tracking-plugin formats without depending on any of them, and can also fire the shipped event on a status you nominate instead.
